If You Want To Be a Leader...

I work in a law firm. Attorneys bill by the hour - time is their commodity. Their time is valuable. If there is a copy to be made or a conference room needs cleaned up, the attorneys expect one of the staff to do it because they can't bill that time.

I've worked at the same law firm for 6 years...and I saw something today that shocked me.
After his client left, an attorney went to the sink, got the window cleaner and a paper towel and cleaned up the conference room.

What a great example of servant leadership.
It reminded me of the following passage in Matthew 20:25-28: But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different.
Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
